The heritage listed Mariners Church (est.1856) is now BAR100, a stylish multi-level venue that offers various event spaces, bar and dining options. Set over four levels, this beautifully designed venue is the perfect mix of old and new and caters for events from 10 to 800 guests.
Level two plays host to a range of spaces. Comprising of a gorgeous sandstone restaurant and bar space, it has a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking Circular Quay. The Terrace is perfect for casual alfresco dining and drinks and has a retractable roof, ensuring weather will not impact your event. There is also the beautifully appointed Sunroom, ideal for private dining for up to 40 guests or cocktail style event.
Level three, with direct access from George Street, is the awe inspiring Main Bar. Cathedral high ceilings and a 18 metre long brass bar are the focal points. Capacity for over 300 guests including a smoking balcony. Leather booths surround this area and may be reserved for more casual gatherings. The Chapel, also on level three, with capacity for 80 guests cocktail-style, a workshop for 50 or 18 guests for an elegant private dinner, is perfect for functions in a unique historic setting.
1909 Lounge is located on level four. The Rawson Room features its own private bar for 40 guests and is an extension of the 1909 Lounge. The Bethel Room has a balcony with harbour views. An elevated DJ position, only revealed when a secret glass wall panel is opened, is a defining aspect of this room. This custom designed level is all about luxury and is flexible to suit 80 to 200 guests.
Good fitout with sandstone heritage environs and very friendly staff (most unusual) BUT the music was way too loud. So loud you had to scream at each other to be heard, which might be fine at a nightclub at 3am but at 7pm for after work drinks it was way overdone. I think mgmt needs to work out are they are nightclub (current proposition) or if they wanr to be a "bar" then the music needs to be turned down.....significantly. Saying all that we had a good 30th and enjoyed a dance, cheers
