James has spent a decade working at the forefront of Australia’s corporate event industry, managing high profile events for some of Europe’s and Australia’s largest companies. He has also played an integral part in establishing Australia’s leading event industry publication and website the, A LIST Guide.
Having graduated from Charles Sturt University in 1996 with a degree in Communications, James’ organisation skills were honed through two years production experience working on some of Australia’s most loved television shows.
Following this, a two year stint based in London included working for Informa Group in the telecommunications division. His work involved the implementation of sponsorship events in France, Italy and Spain. These events supported roll out of GSM, WAP and GPRS technologies. His clients included companies such as Nokia, Ericsson, Alcatel and Hewlett Packard.
Returning to Australia in 2000, he worked in a number of roles within the special events industry, before securing an Event Producer role at Visual Event Management (VEM). Here James worked predominantly on film premieres, conferences, product launches and other special events for a period of two years. In 2004, James joined Event Planet as a Senior Event Manager, working on brands such as Warner Bros, Vodafone and DHL.
Since 2005, James has been responsible for the launch and growth of A LIST Guide Australia alongside business partner and Managing Director, Amy Merriman. His role as General Manager has been primarily focused on the general growth of the print and online directory from its origins in NSW, to becoming the national, industry-leading product it is today.
